Crash Courses

Leys Leisure Crash Courses take place during the school holidays and provide a brilliant activity to keep the kids active, learn a lifelong skill, and quickly advance through our swimming scheme.

Our crash courses are aimed for children from the age of 4 who need to build or improve water confidence or develop their technique.

The 30 min lessons are a great opportunity to provide weak swimmers with an introduction to water safety and structured lessons, and provide more experienced swimmers with feedback and guidance that will help them progress to their next level.

Dates and Important Information for Crash Courses

Dates: 

  • Monday 20th to Friday 24th July
  • Monday 27th to Friday 31st July
  • Monday 3rd to Thursday 6th August (4 day course)
  • Monday 10th to Friday 14th August
  • Monday 17th to Friday 21st August

Instructor: Leys Leisure Instructor

Price: £55 for 5 days – 30 minute lesson at the same time each day. £44 for 4 day course running 3rd to 6th August.

Lesson Times:

  • L1: 10:30am – Suitable for complete beginners
  • L1+: 11:00am – Suitable for children able to swim 2-3m unaided
  • L2: 11:30am – Suitable for children able to swim 10m unaided on their front and back.

Spaces Available:

Level 1/1+ – 4 children per lesson (max). Level 2 – 6 Children per lesson (max).

One-to-One Lessons

One to one lessons, thirty minutes of tuition by our most experienced teachers will help to accelerate your child’s learning.

100% attention and immediate feedback can produce remarkable results for any ability level (Level 1 and above swimmers).

Like all our lessons, a broad range of skills are covered while we carefully step through the strokes, adjusting the pace to the pupil.

You may also use the one to one slots to help your child through a particular skill they may be struggling to conquer: somersaulting, diving or any part of a stroke.

Dates and Important Information for 1 to 1 lessons

Dates: Monday 13th July to Friday 28th August. Weekdays only. No lessons on Friday 7th August.

Swim Clinics

Our experienced instructors will be offering strokes and skills clinics. There will be different clinics for each stroke – Front crawl, back stroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Sessions will be split depending on your child’s level. We will also be offering diving sessions for all levels. Theses clinics will help children master a particular stroke or skill they are struggling with in group lessons. They can also be useful for those wishing to progress their swimming and join a club or those who are already club swimmers but need some individual coaching in particular areas.

Stroke clinic levels are based on Leys Leisure swimming lesson levels. If your child swims in a different swim school, please let us know when you book so we can make sure they are booked into the correct session.

Diving clinics:

11am on Friday 24th and 31st July

The diving sessions are suitable for all abilities level 3 and upwards. These are mixed ability sessions, but as this is a small group our instructor will still be able to tailor the session to your child’s needs, from those struggling to master the basics of diving up to club level swimmers looking to improve technique.

Car Park Instructions

Car parking is available to all swimming lessons users free of charge for the duration of the swimming lesson. There are a limited number of car parking spaces in the area adjacent to the Sports Centre building*.

Please use the Sports Centre entrance on Trumpington Road opposite to the Cambridge Botanic Garden to park your vehicle and then walk around the school premises (please check map).

Access to the swimming pool is strictly done by the Fen Causeway entrance – please allow extra traveling time when booking your sessions.

*Parking anywhere else on school site will result in their booking being cancelled without refund.
